On occasion, the Montgomery County Humane Society receives two pets from one household as "give-ups". In this case, we have Calypso and Rome. When they came to the shelter, it was through no fault of their own. Unfortunately, their parent had to move and couldn't take the boys along. But they still have each other; and are currently sharing a kennel at MCHS. Won't you please take a moment to listen to their story:
My name is Calypso; and I'm the oldest. I am a 10 year old Pit Bull mix, just like my brother, Rome, who is only 2 years old. The shelter thinks we are both Pits mixed with Laborador Retrievers. We really enjoy each other's company, as well as the company of people. We both love to play ball or just "hang out". The beauty of Rome and I is our ages. You see, with us, you get the youthful energy, curiosity, and eagerness of a youngster through Rome; and with me, you have the watchful eye of an experienced, mellow, gentleman, who can also help keep Rome entertained. Rome is very "spry" and I'm told he "catches on quickly to positive clicker training", which is a very good young-dog characteristic. On the opposite side of the spectrum, you will find that I am a very laid-back seasoned fellow who would be just as happy walking along beside you with a ball in my mouth as I would be napping in a warm cozy spot at home. And if you spend a little time with Rome and I, you will soon see that the little guy is learning a lot from me; and I am staying young because of his influence on me. It's a win/win! "We learn from each other and are happiest when we're together. We both know some commands, but will excel with obedience classes that will sharpen our manners." (MCHS staff)
Would you please do a couple of really nice guys the biggest favor a human could ever do for a dog, and give us a chance at a new beginning? All we are asking for is a second chance. Please. We'll be waiting!
