You never know who will be walking the Academy Awards red carpet on Oscar Night Las Vegas-Style. The VIP’s, celebrities and sponsors are always interesting. Magician/ Entertainer/ Videographer and Video Editor Bob Massey’s versatile talents brought him in contact with famous magicians/ illusionists Lance Burton and Criss Angel.

Bob worked as a close-up magician in Lance Burton’s Magic Shop for 13-½ years.

He explained, “Las Vegas is the magic capital of the world. There are several magic shows appearing here. Close-up magic takes practice because the people are near the magician. It is challenging, more rewarding.”

They called Bob a magician’s magician. He performed in the magic shop and advised customers about the different magic tricks. The magic store became a place to see how the tricks were done.

Bob reminisced, “Lance Burton was a great performer before he retired, it was known as the best show in Las Vegas. Lance assisted many kids in becoming magicians. He told them, ’You could do anything just put effort in what you want to do. Hopefully it will pay off. There is no limit to their goal.‘ This is a great entertainment field to get into to.”

Lance Burton always invited young people on the stage to include them in his show.

Bob Massey worked with Criss Angel for three years. “Criss is known as the top of his field now. I was lucky to work on his television show “Believe” on Spike TV. He is a person in the forefront of magic.”

Bob’s versatile career included his involvement as Director of Photography, Editor with 3-D animation and motion graphics.

Perhaps that is why Bob favored the film “Gravity” because of all of the special effects.

Bob tried comedy and juggling then settled on magic. He began working as a magician at the age of 22 and was named one of the top magicians in Phoenix.

Bob’s career sky rocked when he worked in Lance Burton’s magic shop as a close-up magician demonstrator.
