Carmen Gabriela was born on August 23 to 29-year-old Hilaria and 55-year-old Alec Baldwin.
The new father shares his feelings on having an infant to raise and his experience the second time around, as he has a 17-year-old daughter, Ireland.
“It’s a second chance for me, in a way,” the actor, 55, tells PEOPLE exclusively in its new issue. “Everybody knows I had a pretty unpleasant custody battle for Ireland.”
The couple share their experience with adjusting to the new baby’s sleep schedule.
“She sleeps like a rock all day. And at night she’s like, ‘Let’s have a conference,’” says Alec. “Now I’m getting to the point where if I don’t sleep, I’m going to start walking into walls.” Hilaria adds.
The happy couple was asked about the baby’s looks and who she favors of the two of her parents.
“I hope she looks like her mother. What a waste of time it would be to marry a woman like that and have the kid look like me.”
“She looks like herself… we’ll have to see, every single day, she changes so much.”
As this is the first child for Hilaria the experience is completely new for her and she talks about how she as well as her emotions have evolved since becoming a mother.
“It’s a love that hurts. I want to make sure she’s okay, every single step of the way… it’s just absolutely indescribable.”
The full interview with the Baldwin’s and photos of baby Carmen Gabriela will be featured in People Magazine, on newsstands this Friday.
