Meet a Slammer: Frank "Lethal" Baltutis (Photos)

Frank “Lethal” Baltutis burst onto the Slammer Tour in 2012 after arriving in the national capital region from Sudbury to be closer to his daughters.

“My wife Cynthia and I came to Ottawa following my retirement in 2010 because our girls Alexandra and Katrina were here,” said Baltutis, who lists golf and basketball as his sporting passions. “I was looking for people to golf with and wanted to try different courses so Executive Golf and the Slammer Tour were a perfect fit.”

A right-handed player with a solid iron game, Baltutis says he gets out about 50 times a year and last season, in his rookie year on the Slammer Tour, he played in 10 events.

“I enjoy some friendly competition that’s not too serious and get out any weekday I’m free,” Baltutis said.

His “Lethal” handle came about when as a kid of Lithuanian descent, his pals gave him the nickname. He decided to run with it for the Slammer Tour.

In keeping with the “Lethal” theme, Baltutis’ wife went out and bought him a box of TaylorMade’s new five-piece Lethal balls for Valentine’s Day.

Baltutis says the highlight of his first year on the Slammer Tour happened during a doubleheader.

“I hurt my back in the morning round and shot a 99,” he said. “ During the break, I went to a drug store for pain pills and came back to shoot 82 in the afternoon and was named first star of the second round.”
