Call to action for Chefs: A donation for the silent auction or a dish at the Mediterranean Feast Fundraiser for Paula Wolfert and the Alzheimer's Association

Renowned and beloved cookbook author, Paula Wolfert, was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. In true fighting spirit, Paula has become a leading spokesperson for Alzheimer’s- championing preventative measures and ways to mitigate symptoms of the disease.
Mediterranean Feast for Paula is a grassroots fundraising and outreach campaign organized by chefs Farid Zadi and Susan Park with the support of Paula Wolfert and the Alzheimer’s Association. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mediterranean Feast is seeking chefs who wish to donate a Mediterranean dish for the event or an item for the silent auction. The event expects a sell out capacity of 400 guests. So for the dish, sample tastes of dishes will be 1- 1 ½ ounces in size. Since there will be over 30 dishes served, we're asking for chefs to prepare 20 lbs or 4 gallons worth of food. All disposables will be provided for sampling and volunteer cooks to plate. For the silent auction, suggested items for auction include the following:
Restaurant gift certificates, tickets to food events, cooking classes, cookbooks, cookware, cooking ingredients, travel packages, wine, vineyard tours, wine tastings or seminars, a private dinner or seats at a pop-up. Though just about anything is welcome!
There will be an on-site silent auction at the event plus an online auction host by eBay Giving Works. Online auction items can be donated from anywhere in the country. Please include a clear photo of the item or prize, full value, your name, company name and contact info (name, phone, and business address).
The event organizers are also seeking donated auction items from foodies, retail operators, restaurateurs, winemakers, cookbook authors, culinary educators, and wholesalers. So please step up for this cause and contribute even if you're not a chef !

Paula Wolfert, a resident of Sonoma, is the author of eight cookbooks, all considered classics. Among them: Couscous and Other Good Food From Morocco, The Cooking of Southwest France, and five books on Mediterranean cuisine including the much praisedCooking of the Eastern Mediterranean. She has won the Julia Child Award three times, The James Beard Award five times, The M. F. K. Fisher Award, The Tastemaker Award and been a finalist for the British Andre Simon Award.
