Two Dallas Police Department officers are under suspicion of setting up a man for arrest by planting "illicit drugs" in his apartment.
According to a story broadcast recently on WFAA-TV Channel 8 the pair claims they found drugs, cash, and a gun inside the suspect's apartment.
But the apartment manager who witnessed the search claimed that the drugs were actually found in the bushes outside, and a judge who "found their testimony incredible" determined that the two officers "repeatedly lied in sworn testimony" about the case.
A defense attorney in the report was quoted as saying "If you are a police officer and you are lying to make your cases, you are just as bad as the bad guy."
But for libertarians there's an even greater problem; what might be called the anachronistic Dark Ages Personality Disorder.
The whole concept of "illicit drugs" and "drug arrest" is based on the medieval idea that certain inanimate objects should be outlawed by the ruling class.
At one time or another bibles, pictorial representations of Christian saints and biblical scenes, crossbows, Christmas carols and a multitude of items under various country's sumptuary laws that regulated what different classes of people could or could not wear or possess were summarily prohibited.
Banning inanimate objects like drugs, guns and large amounts of money is typical of a benighted mentality. None of the objects found in the suspect's apartment are capable by themselves of initiating force, intimidation or fraud.
In short, where there is no victim there can be no crime.
The second enlightened libertarian position is that cops should absolutely be punished for victimizing people as a function of "just doing my job."
The United States and its Western allies explicitly established such a legal standard during the Nuremburg War Crime Trials following World War II.
Many prominent Germans – not just Nazis and members of the dreaded SS – were told that "just following orders" was not a legitimate defense against committing war crimes. If that was their only defense they were inevitably imprisoned or executed.
All politicians, bureaucrats, law enforcement personnel and anyone else claiming exemption from the Non-Aggression Principle should be treated the same way.
It's far past time for everyone, especially today's narcissistic ruling class, to pull their brains out of the European "Muddle Ages," wring them out, and re-train them to think like free, voluntary, libertarian human beings of 21st Century America.
