The U.S. Patent office issued a patent to the United States Health and Human Services back in 2001. It lists the uses of marijuana for the following diseases HIV, dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's. Now with the the DEA still listing the marijuana plant on its schedule one drug list as something that has no medicinal purpose, this is nothing more than a contradiction in terms.

The DEA is afraid that if the public found out about marijuana's usefulness that people would push for the legalization of the weed and thus would cut into the DEA's budget.

Marijuana is less expensive, more effective, and safer than most of the drugs on the market. It is a good relief to people who suffer with AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and depression. In other words what the Government has done is to try and stop any possible use of marijuana for those who need it.

In 1988 Judge Francis Young in the lawsuit brought forth to allow medical marijuana to be used for such ailments as stated above wrote that the plant itself should be allowed to be used. As a DEA judge you would have thought that the DEA would have followed his ruling, but to this day they have not.

This is a blatant attempt by our government to stop something that could help its citizens. They prefer instead to take care of their own.

If it has been known that marijuana is better than most drugs on the market for what it does then that means that the pharmaceutical companies could also be involved in this. The DEA wants to save its place in the organization and the companies want to make money. Ultimately the public loses.

Many young children each day have to live miserable lives due to our Government wanting to save face. Children are going through seizures sometimes 2-300 times a day because they can't get the right medication. Our Government would rather fight marijuana from coming into this country than to help its own children. They have know for almost 30 years that marijuana can help people and they have done nothing to change this.

It is time that the American people speak up and say enough is enough. That we cannot let this form of tragedy take place any longer. If you live in a State that is allowing medical marijuana then you need to thankful. If you live in a state that is debating this situation then you need to vote on allowing medical marijuana to be distributed to its citizenry. This needs to be addressed and now.
