Medical marijuana good for kids with ADD & ADHD - video
Dr. Claudia Jensen of the University of Southern California recommends medical marijuana for children with ADD and ADHD.
It is a life debilitating condition for a lot of children who have an inability to focus and a short attention span.
The most commonly perscribed drug is Ritalin, which has many known side effects including death.
What is the best way to administer cannabinoids to children?
In a cookie or on a piece of toast with cannabis peanut butter.

One bad solution (Ritalin) to another (Marijuana.)
The least you could have done is supplied the reader with your reasons WHY you suggest this treatment.
Thanks Heather - I'm not making a recommendation - just reporting on Dr. Jensen's recommendation - and her reasons are in the video - did you watch it?
I just want to add my experience to this. I am a 30yr old IT professional who has been repeatedly diagnosed with severe ADHD throughout the course of my life. As I've gotten older, the HD has tapered off a bit but the AD is still as bad as ever.
Marijuana definitely help ADD. That being said, it DOES NOT help as much as stimulant-based medications like adderall. Unfortunately, after years of adderall use, I have developed a permanent dopaminergic imbalance (mild, but definitely impacting) and horrible insomnia. Adderall prevented me from putting on weight, killed my appetite and caused me to have severe irritation and depression during withdrawal.
For these reasons, I STRONGLY prefer to use marijuana on an as-needed basis when I have to concentrate on important tasks, like studying. When I *vaporize* marijuana, I'm litterally absorbed by what I'm reading. Without any type of medicine, I end up rereading the same paragraph over and over again with very poor retention.

Ditto, ditto and ditto on diagnosis, meds and experience.
I find that various strains offer different levels of efficacy. The best are hybrids, that lean more to the Sativa side.
I'm a 40-something, highly educated professional. Not a stoner. So I despise the names of the strains. But the one I find most effective is Maui Mad Dog.
I am loving this! I have Severe ADHD I am 22 yrs old and Weed has helped me soo much its just impossible to get a job while smoking weed sooo i really hope they allow med cards with the proper docotor to say you have it.. AWSOMENESS..
i would agree, i am 23 and have had problems keeping jobs just by not being able to communicate with people. i was diagnosed with adhd when i was 8 yrs old and took ritalin for a year. i lost about 20 lbs never ate and still didnt make new friends. I have been using marijuana for a year steady now and own my own painting business and going to school as well. it has helped sooo much and no side effects.
the video was awesome and i hope it changes alot of peoples thinking
in my very humble opinion, involving even medical cannabis with anything to do with children, is courting trouble. people get very intense when their views of what's appropriate for children are tampered with. I have supported legalization/decriminalization/regulation/taxation for many, many years, but I believe the first steps need to remain focused on adults!
Pot makes me puke or sleep. Ritalin + Provigil/Nuvigil is the perfect medication combination for me. It used to be Pemoline + Provigil, but Pemoline is no longer available due to lack of profits. Now in my 60's, dosage has had to be increased over time to achieve same results. While others would get all hyper from my Rx of mental stimulants, it has effect of focusing me.Too many stimulants of course and I will fall asleep. Go figure!
My eight years old daughter has ADHD and she takes vyvanse. But I stay in North Carolina and it is not legalized down here. I am sure that marijuana would help her because she is very, very active. So I am with it all the way.
im a kid with (ADD) or (ADHD)nd im just sayin weed has calmed me down it help me focus a lot more i agree on that i just wanna know how to get one of the cards percribed to me
It's truly a shame that the federal government is so unwilling to give cannabis a chance, but then again if it were legal it would put all of those repulsive drug testing companies out of businesses along with the companies formed to mask your pee from the drug tests. seems like a vicious circle to me. I have ADD and was prescribed Adderall but i wasn't too keen on the idea of taking legal speed and my girlfriend wasn't too happy about the impotence that went along with the drug ;) so i decided i would just take something that has very few side effects and that god himself made for us to use as medicine. so the bottom line is i would highly recommended cannabis to anyone with ADD. just try to stay away from smoking it. i am so much more focused at college and my job and it has really helped me get my life on track (i would be a terrible D.A.R.E. instructor :p ) remember to say no to drugs and yes to medicine. cannabis > speed
IF u care about ur kids u would not give them legal crack (ridilin) u can be addicted to ridilin for life, u can overdose, the effects are terrible. The personality changes are unpleasant. Cannabis is natural, non addictive, no overdose, and the side effects are mild and def. not unpleasant. Anyone with a brain can SEE that there are many underlying reasons to why cannabis remains illegal, seems like a huge fraud and a diservice to our minds and society to live in a world where a divine and mystical plant that is so ancient can be demonized at churches, school, and by local, state, and federal governments.
