A medical marijuana dispensary has opened its doors in Elizabeth. Located on East Kiowa Avenue in the Town of Elizabeth, Alpine Medical LLC opened the doors last week.
How could this happen when there is a county-wide moratorium in place? According to Darryl Sperry, co-owner of Alpine Medical, the company received their license from the town prior to the moratorium being in place. Since then, they have been involved in construction and renovation of the space they have leased and just opened the doors last week. Mr. Sperry said their mission is to "provide for the patients in Elbert County who would otherwise have to drive to Denver to get their medication". He went on to say that Alpine Medical will only take on patients over age twenty-five who have a license for medical marijuana. Mr. Sperry and his partner also stated that they look forward to making a contribution to the community and participating in community events.
Chris La May, Town Administrator for Elizabeth and Chief Phibbs, Chief of Police both stated that the town is "aware" that Alpine Medical has opened in Elizabeth and are monitoring. Mr. La May went on to say that he understands that Alpine Medical is not actually dispensing from the location in Elizabeth, but referring patients to a dispensary in Castle Rock due to the moratorium. Mr. La May stated that the Town is concerned.

I wish someone would explain to me this...If it's medical...and you need a prescription...Why not regulate it through real pharmacies???

YOu all make comments not knowing what is going on one little bit. No you can not just put it behind the counter at your local safeway because they have to adhere to federal law and federal law states it si still illegal. Two this is a natural substance that has been used for pain long before western medicine came to be. Yet you all blindly follow what the FDA says about pain medications. Any pill is bad for you not one of them is good for your body. AND EVERY ONE OF THEM HAS SIDE EFFECTS THAT ARE HARMFUL TO YOU! Marijuana has a side effect and it is hunger and sleep not one of these is bad for you. Simple pain meds like asperin and tylenol are hard on your stomach and kidneys. We have a definate problem with stomach issues in this day and age hence the pepcid ac the prilosec and every other ulcer med they got out there. and they all cause more crap that needs yet another pill for that side effect. I watched my mom take pills to keep her alive for thirteen years
When all was said and done the pills did make the disease go into remission but they had damged her liver and kidneys beyond any repair and she died on her 60th birthday from the meds the doctors gave her and for what 13 years of hell? People like all of you are the ones who hold s back as a country you are nothing but cattle for the goverment to control. MOO moo buckeroos. Next thing you will be doing is mooing all the way to your death because the doctors say it is what needs to be done.
