Medical examiner resigns amid scandal

It took an investigation by the Inspector’s General’s Office to reveal stack of bodies of indigent people placed in a cooler that was overstuffed at the Cook County Morgue. The medical examiner, Dr. Nancy Jones, submitted her resignation after the investigation determined that she allowed 363 bodies to be stored in a cooler that was designed for 300. The Cook County Morgue has been plagued with scandals for several months leading up to the discovering of the stored bodies. A nationwide search for a new medical examiner is in the works now.
