Insurance companies, medical billing schools, even colleges and universities now offer seminars, courses and certifications in medical billing and coding. Some can be rather costly but if you are new to the field seeking employment or if you are an employer hiring new staff the investment may be worth it. For physician offices looking for refresher courses and seminars insurance companies often offer free meetings or free online seminars often called webinars. Most courses and seminars also are available in audio format on CD or cassette should you be unable to attend or prefer to buy materials to keep at your location.
For 2010 here are some upcoming seminars in Baton Rouge and other Louisiana locations as well as online events you can participate in often on your own schedule.
The Coding Institute offers various courses across the country and online. On three dates in Baton Rouge there will be a half-day morning seminar "Back to Basics: Everything You Wanted to Know About Coding But Were Afriad to Ask" at a cost of $249 and good for 4 CEUs if you have a certification to keep up. The dates are February 19, April 13, and June 15. Click on the seminar title for details. The seminar also is available in New Orleans (2/1/10, 3/22/10, 4/29/10), Alexandria (2/10/10, 4/7/10, 6/10/10), Shreveport (3/4/10, 4/20/10, 6/24/10) and Lafayette (2/22/10, 4/27/10, 6/30/10).
Cross Country Education provides training in many industries. On February 5, 2010 at the Baton Rouge Marriott is a "Coding and Billing for Therapy and Rehab" seminar for $199 if you register before 10 days prior to the event.
