According to the Champions Tour website, Rocco Mediate of Greensburg, Pennsylvania dominated the field in winning the first ever Shaw Charity Classic on Sunday at Calgary's Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club.
Mediate shot a three day total of -22 and was seven strokes better than Tom Byrum of Onida, South Dakota. Mediate was the wire-to-wire winner of the event and shot a seven under par on Sunday, the second best score in the final round behind Bill Glasson of Fresno, California who shot a -9.
Glasson's nine under 62 was a course record and would finish the tournament at -12, and a tie for tenth place.
Mediate once again found great success on the back nine at Country Meadows, where he was a -4 on Sunday including an eagle on the par five 15th.
This was Mediate's second Champions Tour victory of his career. At 50 years of age, Mediate won the Allianz Championship by two strokes over Tom Pernice Jr. and Bernhard Langer in February in Boca Raton, Florida.
