It is late Spring and tis the season for prom and graduation. For young girls on the verge of womanhood the experience of prom: the gown, the corsage, the fancy dinner and being treated like a queen for the day is a rite of passage.
But for girls where mere survival is their main priority, the very idea of prom can seem out of reach. It was this very thought that nudged media personality Elle Duncan of V103, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Falcons Pre- Game show, & CBS to begin working with The Enchanted Closet 4 years ago.
Tuesday, April 27, 2010 Atlanta's Studio 1 Five 0, Ms. Duncan launched her new initiative for her first "Cause & Effect" quarterly series, where she will spotlight a different local non-profit each quarter, with an organization very close to her heart, Enchanted Closet.

The Enchanted Closet began in 2003 as a way to provide prom dresses to young girls who would not otherwise be able to attend what is often the highlight of a young girl's high school experience.
Bonita Johnson, CEO of The Enchanted Closet, shared with Urban Style Examiner, the mission of her organization:
To physically, mentally and emotionally outfit Metro Atlanta high school girls from low-income families.
Ms. Johnson presented Ms. Duncan, among other tokens of appreciation, a magic wand...symbolic of her work as a "fairy godmother" making the dream of prom attainable for so many of Atlanta's youth. Since Elle signed on she has been instrumental in convincing 110 businesses to contributed money and or dresses to The Enchanted Closet.
