After lavishing Beyoncé with heavy praises for her inauguration performance, media outlets and the U.S. Corps Band scrambled for excuses on Tuesday for the singer's lip-synched rendition of the national anthem.
Internet magazines and websites couldn't get enough of Beyoncé's interpretation of the Star-Spangled Banner during President Obama's inauguration on Monday. But, after several confirmations that the singer lip-synched the entire performance, they are now trying to come up with excuses for the esteemed pop sensation.
Us Weekly claimed that "Indeed, band director Colonel Michael J. Colburn told Buzzfeed that Beyonce had little time to prep for the big moment." The magazine went on to say that the Colonel claims Beyoncé is very busy getting ready for the Super Bowl so she could not rehearse enough for Monday's performance.
In a short article about the singing debacle, E! News wrote that "The last minute decision makes more sense than some grander conspiracy, as over the weekend, B even tweeted out photos of her in the recording studio practicing for the performance. Oops."
Certainly, an "oops" is all Beyoncé seems to be getting from everyone, with no one in the media wanting to bad-mouth one of their favorite Hollywood personalities...
Meanwhile, Kristen DuBois, spokesperson for the U.S. Marine Corp Band, said they are not sure why Beyoncé chose not to sing live at the last minute.
"We all know Beyoncé can sing..." Kristen told TMZ, "We don't know why she chose to use the pre-recorded track."
