2010 Star Wars Weekends is quickly approaching, which is good news for fans of the George Lucas empire who plan to attend the fan fest held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. The three-day weekends that begin March 21 – 23, the first of four consecutive weekends, will see a return, in Force, of things Star Wars and Clones Wars related.

For Disney guests still wondering what all the hype and the hoopla are really about, or for attendees impatiently waiting for the 2010 celebrations to begin, this week’s Media Monday give you a look some highlights from Star Wars Weekends.
The weekends feature Star Wars celebrities who sign autographs and give presentations. Guests, who are encouraged to dress up, are encouraged to take photos with some of their Lucas favorite characters, as well as Disney characters in Star Wars garb. Other activities include themed motorcades, live entertainment, and kids’ activities, much of which invites Disney and Star Wars guests to jump right into the action.

The Hyperspace Hoopla that ends each day of Star Wars Weekends includes the highly entertaining Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars, featuring a different kind of showdown between the goodies and baddies.

Also worth mentioning is Disney's attraction that serves as the event's landmark attraction – Star Tours, the Star Wars motion simulator co-created by Disney and George Lucas. The attraction will be closed sometime this fall, after the Last Tour to Endor special event on Aug. 14 that overlaps with Star Wars Celebration V being held in Orlando from Aug. 12 – 15, 2010.
Star Tours will re-open as Star Tours II some time in 2011, but in many ways it will be a new experience. Many Star Wars Weekends guests see the event, in addition to the Last Tour to Endor, as one of Disney's last big send-offs to the classic attraction.

Note for Star Wars Weekends attendees: Disney has not yet released all information on limited-edition merchandise for the 2010 schedule of events. Traditionally, Disney waits until much closer to the date of the actual event – even right up to opening weekend.
