Media Matters debunked a report claiming Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) and Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) plan to introduce legislation mandating universal voter registration.
Right-wing media ran with Fund's made-up claim that Rep. Frank was planning universal voter registration.
John Fund of the Wall Street Journal wrote the original report, confusing Barney Frank with John Conyers. Otherwise, the story is true. Media Matters did not report the attribution error. Nor did they report Schumer himself made previous claims of support for universal voter registration and voiced support for UVR legislation.
Right wing, as defined by Media Matters, just means anyone or thing not extreme left. This definition includes left of center, moderates and right of center.
DC Independent Examiner Jim Simpson got mugged by MM for reporting on the John Fund story.
Red Eye, a Fox News late night show, featured a must view Robot Theater short, A Day in the Life of Media Matters (scroll down). Media Matters responded.
The most bizarre attack on Media Matters EVER...
As if Media Matters itself, an extreme left wing propaganda site with dubious funding, was not guilty of bizarre attacks.
Not clarifying Fund's attribution error and not mentioning Schumer's support for universal voter registration. Is MM really anything but a bizarre attack machine?
Whatever. We're on to you now.
Note: See reference list on right of page for previous voter registration and universal voter registration posts.
