Breastfeeding is one of the most affordable, healthy and easy (once you get the hang of it) thing you can do for your little one. Breast milk is a unique superpower fluid with antibodies and multiple benefits. Studies show that Breast-fed children are more resistant to disease and infection early in life, Breast-fed children are less likely to contract a number of diseases later in life, & Mothers who breastfeed are less likely to develop osteoporosis later in life, are able to lose weight gained during pregnancy more easily and have a lower risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer.
Also, you’ll be surprised at all the other unique benefits breast milk has. Just call your pediatrician with a problem. Sunburn?…put breast milk on it. Clogged eye duct?...Put breast milk on it. Flying and afraid of the pressure of your baby? Yeast infection, flu, sore nipples, insect bites the list goes on and on.
Breastfeeding does give you freedom of being able to care for your little one no matter where you are, as long as you are there with them. But, there are times you may need to be separated from them. Whether it’s for a few hours or back to work, you can still breastfeed with the joy of pumping.
We got a chance to check out the Medela Pump-in-Style Advanced. It’s a complete all-in-one portable pump. We love the discreet black bag, there’s not one “MEDELA” sign on it so you’re able to walk through the office without everyone knowing what you’re going to do. It comes in three different styles including; tote, backpack or metro bag. The metro bag has a removable pump if you want to put it into another bag.
Each pump comes with a double pump kit with 24 mm Personal Fit breast shields, connectors, valves, membranes and tubing. Four breast milk bottles with lids, wide base nipple and travel cap, 1- 9 volt AC adaptor, 1- Removable cooler bag and ice pack.
So, when you first open the package we’re going to warn you. It will look overwhelming. What part goes where? We suggest watching their helpful videos. They’ll let you know exactly how to assemble the parts and tons of tips. You’ll pick it up so fast and be ready to go! It is simple. Once you get the hang of it putting the parts together will literally be a snap.
We do suggest purchasing the hands free bra. Not only because you can do two things at one time. You’re a mom and you’re a master of that. But, we think that it really helps with the suction and less likely to drip any milk if you make any type of movement. If you are a mom on the go like us, they also have a car adaptor that works really well. Just pump, throw the bags into your cooler and you’re good to go!
We also suggest getting the pump and save bags. They even have adaptors that you can attach directly to the pump that frees up having to clean a set of bottles when you are done. You can easily write on the top of the label and throw into the freezer for later use. Just run them under warm water and within a minute the milk is ready to go. Breast milk Guidelines say they can last 6-12 months in the freezer.
The pumps are expensive but worth it. The pump last for multiple pumps everyday. Even if you are a stay at home mom, we do suggest you have a pump so you have the freedom to be away if you have to. Or, give daddy or another family member the opportunity to experience this wonderful time in your child’s life.
