Author V.A Rosewarne once said, "The universe is so vast and ageless that the life of one man can only be measured by the size of his sacrifice."
If this were the case, would you be larger than life or seen as microscopic?
Sacrifice as defined by the Encarta dictionary means giving up something valued. This word may surface thoughts of a loving mother who sacrificed her career while raising her children or perhaps a significant other who put his or her schooling on hold while working two jobs to support yours. People who sacrifice for the better good are the people who achieve greatness.
Sacrifice takes a long-term commitment, a devotion to a cause. It is about compassion and love for others being held in priority above your own progress.
This doesn’t mean you do not value yourself or that you shouldn’t work to benefit your well-being, it just means it shouldn’t be about you 100% of the time.
When you’re able to give up some of your space and energy as a sacrifice for humankind, the universe will embrace you. You will be honored from the inside out; gifted through your compassion and by the universal connection you’ve created.
It isn’t always about “what’s in it for you” sometimes it is necessary to devote your efforts and time to the needs of others. Sacrifice offers a balanced journey, it is all consuming, a spiritual enlightenment.
And, in the end, it is my hope that our life sacrifices pay forward and create connections larger than any past measurable reach. This is the year for greatness; work with me to honor this!
