Meal timing plus Mediterranean diet equals weight loss success, says new study

Want to increase the odds that you'll lose more weight in a shorter amount of time? Eat your main meal before 3 p.m. and follow a Mediterranean diet, say researchers who conducted the newest weight loss study, reported Reuters on Jan. 29. "We should now seriously start to consider the timing of food - not just what we eat, but also when we eat," study co-author Frank Scheer explained. His Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston team instructed study participants to follow a Mediterranean diet. Each day, half of them ate lunch before 3 p.m., consuming 40 percent of their daily calories at their noon meal. The other half ate lunch after 3 p.m. Those who ate before 3 p.m. lost 22 pounds on average, while those who ate later lost an average of 17 pounds. To share their success, follow these steps:
