Last night Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment hosted the John Cashman Memorial Race, Hambletonian Oak and Hambletonian draw. WNBC's Bruce Beck served as draw-master as well as Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman to honor his father, John Cashman. The event was hosted by and benefited the Standardbred Retirement Foundation and the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame.
After the draw guests headed upstairs to enjoy the Hambletonian Charity Casino Night & Poker Tournament. The event was hosted by and benefited the Standard Retirement Foundation and the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame. Guests enjoyed drinks and dinner as well as participated in games of roulette, craps and black jack for a great cause. The winner of the Poker Tournament walked away with a trip to Vegas! Guests also enjoyed dinner and open bar as well as enter the raffle to win prizes such as Yankee tickets, golf clubs, artwork and more.
This Saturday is the biggest day at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment, the 89th Hambletonian, so don't miss it! The final Horseplay of the season will take place after Race 3, where one last fan will join the 26 other Horseplay Finalists, who will all be in the running to win a brand new Scion FR-S. In order to be last finalist, guests can donate $1 to the Max Cure Foundation to receive a numbered rubber horse and attempt to throw it into the window of a moving car. The winner, randomly chosen from the horses that made it into the car, will be added to the previously picked finalists for the Horseplay Car Giveaway. The winner of the car will be announced after Race 14. Bring your most creative hat for the chance to win the Hambletonian Hat Contest. Sign up at the track level promotions table and make your way to the track before Race 4. First place wins $500, second place $250 and third place $100.
