What if I told you there's a chance you can be hairless by summer? Now, what if I told you this magical hairless process would happen in the privacy of your home?
Last week I was invited to a breakfast presentation at the Museum of Art and Design by Syneron Beauty (responsible for the Pearl teeth whitening products and the Tanda home-use light therapy) to launch the Mē Smooth ($395). Me Smooth is the first FDA approved at-home hair removal system that's effective for all skin types and tones. How you ask? Not by laser, but with a patented Elos technology (electro-optical synergy). Combining the power of Intense Pulsed Light and Radio Frequency energies, the device selectively targets the hair follicles and delivers heat deep into the dermis to inhibit hair regrowth.
During the breakfast African-American dermatologist, Dr. Valerie Callender spoke about the device and explained how it's painless, easy and safe for all skin. Callender showed attendees scary photos of the damage previous hair removal systems can do to darker skin. She tried the device herself and said she felt no pain or irritation. Founder of Elos technology, Dr. Shimon Eckhouse spoke about the progression of hair removal through the years and how Mē Smooth is the most effective and safest at-home hair removal system. In a clinical study, the Mē Smooth was used for only 7 treatments and achieved up to 96 percent hair reduction.
The Mē Smooth device is pre-loaded with 6,000 pulses and Elos replacement cartridges ($50) will be available to buy when those pulses are burnt out. It's small compact size makes it easy to keep on your bathroom counter or bedroom vanity. It can be used anywhere on your body (below the neck) and a facial attachment will be available in a few months.
Mē Smooth will be available in May of this year at beauty retailers like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Sephora. Gladly I was given one of the devices at the breakfast presentation and have already started to use it.
