The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers weren't the only teams facing off last weekend. The Maryland SPCA defeated the Humane Society Silicon Valley in an epic Super Bowl themed challenge for Facebook fans.
The MD SPCA and the HSSV (located in Milpitas, Calif.), each posted 11 photos and descriptions on Facebook of pets available for adoption at their shelters and asked fans to "Like" the photos for one point, or "Share" the photo for six points. Team MD SPCA represented Baltimore with pride and received more than 4,000 "Likes" on the photos and more than 2,500 "Shares." The terms of the challenge: The winner will reduce their adoption fees temporarily in honor of the win.
This Sunday, February 10, 2013, the MD SPCA will celebrating their win and continuing Ravens fever by reducing the adoption fee on adult dogs and cats to just $52 in honor of Ray Lewis.
“The pets and potential adopters are the real winners if we can find new families for the pets and great family companions for adopters,” said Tina Regester, Director of Communications and Media Relations at the Maryland SPCA.
