The biggest Republican In Name Only (RINO) and progressive Republican in the U.S. Senate is John “McRINO” McCain, who has clearly overstayed his welcome in national politics. McCain, who voted somewhat coservative in the first couple terms he served in the Senate after being elected to the seat previously held by the great Senator Barry Goldwater, became progressively more moderate to liberal the longer overstayed his welcome in Washington D.C. Now it's reported he's “seriously considering” running for another teerm as senior senator from Arizona.
Recent polls show McCain is in serious trouble of losing if he seeks reelection to his senate seat in 2016. The Huffington Post reports a recent survey by Public Policy Polling shows McCain would lose to either 2012 Democrat Senate nominee Richard Carmona or former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords by at least six percent, a margin that exceeds the survey's 3.3 percent margin of error. The same poll shows McCain having an overall disapproval rate of 54 percent and having more disapproval than approval among Democrats, Repubicans, and Independent voters alike. In short, McCain needs to recognize his political career is done, and hang it up and retire after having long overstayed his welcome in national politics.
A candidate like current Arizona Congressman Matt Salmon would make a great Republican nominee for the senate seat and help keep the seat in the GOP column. And unlike many of the RINOs who could seek the nomination and lose to someone like Carmona or Giffords, Salmon would win the seat and represent Arizona as one of the few senators would stand with the us in the country class and go agaisnt the corrupt interests of the ruling class in Washington D.C. whose biggest accomplishment in government is saddling us more than $17 trillion in national debt and committing the government to economically destructive entitlement programs that we can not afford in the long term.
The bottom line is, time for McCain to retire and let the voters in Arizona elect a new senator. Either way, the polls show they will probably do that anyway.
