The pairing of Earnhardt-Ganassi teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray isn’t exactly the happiest of matches, even in the good times.

McMurray is three races into his second stint with the team and with Montoya as his teammate. The first go around, the two weren’t known as the best of friends.

And after lap 93 at Las Vegas Sunday any hope of a happy friendship was trashed.

As Montoya was entering turn three with McMurray close behind it appeared that McMurray’s Chevy moved up just enough to turn Montoya’s machine into the wall. Montoya slid sideways while McMurray ‘T’ boned him. Polesitter Kurt Busch was swept up in the accident as well. And while there was speculation on exactly what triggered the wreck, Montoya said he knew exactly what happened.

"He runs straight into my ass,” Montoya said after climbing out of his mangled car. “He nearly ran me into the fence in (Turn) 2 as well. I don't know. He's not doing himself any favors. "I'm sure (McMurray) is going to say, 'Oh, I didn't mean that.'”

After looking as the remains on his car, Montoya continued.

"Every time I am around him, he wants to run the sh*t out of me. I don't know if it is ok to say that but I just did.” He said laughing. “On the restart I was inside of him, I think he got tight and never lifted, I didn't hit the fence because.....it was a miracle. Then I arced it in to three and he just plain and simple just wrecked us. I'm sure on the radio it was "Ah, I didn't mean that." He is just trying to prove to people he can drive a race car and I guess he isn't doing too many favors on this team."

Montoya was scored in 37th position.

McMurray later gave his side of the story.

"I just got really loose and underneath him and he turned in a little bit earlier than what I was expecting,” McMurray said. “When it did it made even looser. And I just had to catch my car and unfortunately I got into him whenever I did that."

The frustration level for Montoya was evident. Last week in California the car blew an engine handing Montoya a rare DNF.

“This week this.” Montoya said. “It is painful. He nearly ran me in to the fence out of two as well. Going in to three just plain and simple just wrecked us. Oh well but not doing himself too many favors."

That frustration level is something that McMurray said probably fueled a lot of Montoya’s anger.

“You guys probably shouldn't put a lot of stock into what he said,” McMurray said. “When you ask somebody something immediately after getting crashed they typically don't have nice things to say."
