According to www.albertaworldcup.com on Thursday, Calgary native Brian McKeever won his second Interational Paralympic Committee World Cup race in a week.
McKeever won the International Paralympic Committee World Cup men's 20 km classical technique cross-country skiing race for skiers who are visually impaired in Canmore, Alberta, an hour west of Calgary.
McKeever posted a time of 54:55.4. Stanislav Chokhlaev of Russia won the silver medal with a time of 55:22.8, with Vladimir Udaltcov of Russia winning the bronze medal with a time of 58:12.8.
On Monday, McKeever won the men's 10km race.
In other action, Russians swept the podium in the women's 16km cross-country skiing event for those who visually impaired and the men's 13km cross-country sit skiing event. In the men's event, Irek Zaripov, Roman Petushkov, Aliaksandr Davidovich won gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the women's event, Elena Remizova, Iuliia Budaleeva and Elvira Kalabina won gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In the men's 20km classical technique for sit skiing skiers, Rushan Minnegulov of Russia won gold, followed by Vladislav Lekomtcev of Russia and Ikka Tuomitso of Finland. Finally in the women's 10 km sit skiing event, Mariann Marthinsen of Norway won gold, followed by Francesca Porcellato of Italy and Marta Zaynullina of Russia.
