JaVale McGee did all he could to keep the Denver Nuggets' winning streak alive.
The former Nevada Wolf Pack (2006-08) center grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds Sunday but the Nuggets saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end with a 118-114 triple overtime loss to the Boston Celtics.
McGee, now in his fifth season in the NBA after leaving the Wolf Pack after his junior year in the spring of 2008, played 32 minutes and also had three blocks and five points. While he was on the floor, the Nuggets were plus-nine on the scoreboard.
McGee had five rebounds in the final 4:19 of the first quarter and another five boards in the three overtime periods. His free throw with 2:40 remaining in the third overtime pulled the Nuggets within 111-110.
While at Nevada, McGee was a Second Team All-Western Athletic Conference selection and a member of the WAC's All-Defense team in 2008. He was drafted in the first round by the Washington Wizards (18th overall).
