McDonald's wings on the menu soon? The question for many fast food fanatics is this: What took the world's largest hamburger chain so long to add chicken wings to the mix?
Officials say McDonald's chicken wings are available to all U.S. locations by September 29.
And don't expect bland offerings; McDonald's wings will have some kick. Through the month of November, the bone-in wings will be spiced with cayenne and chili peppers.
The longstanding hamburger chain hopes to tap into a profitable market and compete directly with Buffalo Wild Wings, Popeyes, KFC and other chicken franchises.
"Wings is a major move. It's like the Colonel adding a cheeseburger," said Scott Hume, editor of the Burger Business blog.
Kentucky Fried Chicken introduced its boneless chicken meals in 2012 and the "I ate bones" commercials went viral. If the Big Mac maker's success is anything similar, the introduction of chicken wings on the menu is sure to be a blast.
Hopefully, it won’t be a tease like the McRib sandwich stick and move releases.
