McDonald’s to change its name

McDonald’s is having a love affair with Australia. They are so much in love that the Australians have a nick name for the fast food giant Macca’s. Showing their support in the relationship McDonald’s has agreed to change some of their iconic signs across Australia to Macca’s.

The change is taking place in celebration of Australia Day which falls on January 26. According to the Huffington Post the fast food chains Chief Marketing Officer Mark Lollback said, We're incredibly proud to embrace our ‘Australian-only' nickname. What better way to show Aussies how proud we are to be a part of the Australian community than change our store signs to the name the community has given us?"

According to a recent survey nearly 50% of Australians use the nickname. Thirteen stores will change their signs this week. The sign change will begin in the state of New South Wales and will revert back to the normal signs on February 4.
