McDonald’s Shamrock shakes might not leave you feeling so rockin' (Video)

That special limited St. Patrick’s Day treat that McDonald’s offers once a year looks and tastes delicious, but it isn’t the healthiest to consume. The Dailymail.co.uk reported on Saturday that though Shamrock Shakes are tasty, consumers might not realize just how many calories are packed into just one of these tasty treats. Just one Shamrock Shake contains 820 calories (22 fl. Oz. cup), and included in those calories are 23 grams of fat and 115 grams of sugar. This can be described as being equivalent to one and a half hamburgers at McDonalds.

So what exactly are the ingredients that make up a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake? McDonalds.com describes the shake as, “Smooth and creamy mint flavored shake topped with whipped cream and a cherry.” But the Dailymail.co.uk looks even more in depth, describing the ingredients consisting of the following: Shamrock Shake syrup, vanilla flavor, whip cream, food coloring (Yellow 5 or Red 40), in an ice cream base with a cherry on top.

Luckily the Shamrock Shakes are around for a limited time, until the end of March. But the very definition of a treat is an event or item that is out of the ordinary and gives great pleasure. As long as one treats the St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Shake as just that, a treat, it can be enjoyable.
