Today according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, McDonald's Corporation is no longer using Heinz ketchup. As Heinz ketchup is only used in two domestic markets (Pittsburgh and Minneapolis), the effects are expected to be felt globally.
H.J. Heinz has operations throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Heinz became a private company at the end of the third quarter through an acquisition by 3G Capital and the Berkshire Group earlier this year, and the headquarters remain in Pittsburgh. This week H.J. Heinz appointed former Burger King Worldwide CEO Bernando Hees to run the company.
"As a result of recent management changes at Heinz, we have decided to transition our business to other suppliers over time," according to a statement from Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald's to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
