McDonald's pulls McBites ad that offended pit bull lovers

So what's safer? McDonald's Chicken McBites or petting a stray pit bull? The fast food chain, which has locations worldwide, including several in Huntsville, aired a radio ad this month telling everyone the chicken was safer.

Turns out pit bull lovers found the comparison in terribly bad taste and now McDonald's has pulled the ad.

While the Chicken McBites ad only ran for a few days in the Kansas City area, word of its disparaging pit bull remarks quickly reached lovers of this breed in Huntsville and across the country through social media sites.

McDonald's, which has long been trying to portray a healthier image, offered a recorded apology through a well-publicized, toll-free number, saying:

"We'll do a better job next time. It's never our intent to offend anyone with how we communicate news about McDonald's."

There is already a Facebook page called "Pit Bulls Against McDonald's." As of Wednesday, February 7, it has more than 11,000 "likes."
