They weren't supposed to launch until next week, but McDonald's new premium "McWrap" sandwiches have already launched in these parts this week, since the day this Cleveland Pop Culture Examiner first noticed the new sign during one of my near-daily McDonald's jaunts this week.
The McWraps come in various flavors, like Chicken & Bacon, Sweet Chili Chicken and Chicken & Ranch -- in grilled or crispy. At 520 calories, the McDonald’s Premium McWrap Chicken Sweet Chili (Crispy) fit right in with my lower-calorie eating plans yesterday -- and I plopped that mug right in MyFitnessPal.com journal and tried it out for the first time.
One word: yum.
First off, I was hungry, because the Starbucks' Bacon, Egg, and Gouda Artisan Breakfast Sandwich (also yum) and Starbucks Dark French Roast coffee with Almond Joy International Delight Coffee Creamer (yum, yum and yum again) had been efficiently burned up during my 5K treadmill run with Jesus and Lecrae, "all day, e'er' day," as they say.
So by the time I extracted that cute "release the flavor" tab on the cardboard sleeve that the HUGE wrap comes ensconced within, and tasted that first heavenly bite, I was sold. I love that convenient container. It reminded me of the way my mom used to eat her burgers and such by holding the wrapping and not the actual sandwich, to prevent germs.
The sweet chili chicken sauce reminded me of eating Chinese food fare.
And the veggies, oh the veggies...
It's the cucumbers, it's gotta be the cucumbers. It's the first time McDonald's has featured the veggie prominently in a sandwich like that, not just within salads.
HuffPo reports that a lot of interesting food fare like this is on the way, including an Egg McMuffin made with egg whites starting April 22 (my birthday!), turkey burgers from Burger King (I've been avoiding them since the horse meat scandal), and Flatbread Grilled Chicken Sandwiches from Wendy's:

Oh, delish.
