McDonald’s Introduces NFC Racetracks for Kids Into Their Dining Tables (Video)

NFC, near field communication, has been utilized for quite some time now. Thanks to this technology Android & Windows Phone owners have been able to do some pretty nifty things such as send pictures to others wirelessly; read tags that automatically trigger actions such as turning on WiFi; and even making payments with your phone. The trouble with NFC is that main stream consumers haven’t quite caught yet. Thankfully McDonald’s aims to change that.

McDonald’s seems to be preparing itself for the future, and rightfully so. They first started by giving consumers the option to pay for their meals with their phones, providing you had an app such as Google Wallet that allowed you to so do. Now McDonald’s is integrating chips into their dining room tables to allow kids to play mini games. For instance one game allows your phone to act as a race car, with the table acting as the track.

I’ll certainly hand it to McDonald’s. Getting kids into the technology while they’re young so that they can become accustomed to is a very good move. Hopefully they implement other NFC features into their restaurants that also educate adults about the technology. Meanwhile, I can only imagine a bunch of kids on a room sliding phones all across the table. Let’s just hope this doesn’t lead to any broken screens
