McDonald's chicken wings will be flying into Chicago locations soon, but will they be flying out the door? The fast food chain is betting that its newest product, the Mighty Wings, will be as popular in Chicago as they were in Atlanta, where they were tested in 2012. If you're in the Chicago area, expect to pay at least $3 for the wings, which will be sold in three, five or 10 pieces, Lynne Collier, an analyst with Sterne Agee told The Huffington Post in a Jan. 7, 2013 report.
Depending on how the Mighty Wings fare in the restaurant's test markets, McDonald's chicken wings could end up as a limited-time-only promotional offer in its locations across the United States, much like the come-and-go appearance of the McRib, or they could earn a place on the chain's permanent menu. However, there's still a long way to go before anything like that happens. For now, a spokesperson said there are no immediate plans to bring the wings to additional cities, but their introduction to the people of Chicago has been confirmed.
McDonald's capacity to secure a source of chicken wings at reasonable prices is also a factor in the future of the Mighty Wings, but if you are in the Chicago area, you could begin to see them as early as this week. Catch them before they fly away.
