As previously reported, country singer Mindy McCready was found dead from a gunshot wound at her Arkansas home over the weekend. In new developments, authorities say that it appears the singer shot her late boyfriend David Wilson’s dog before shooting herself, according to a Feb. 18 Associated Press report.
Wilson was found dead at the singer’s home in January.
Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss said that both the dog and McCready were found dead next to one another at the scene. An investigation into Wilson’s death is ongoing, but Moss says an official determination hasn't been made. While reports indicate that Mcready died from an apparent suicide, no official report has been released. Moss says he expects McCready's official cause of death to be released soon, but that “all indicators” point to suicide.
Also speaking out on the star’s death is Roger Clemens who said in a written statement, that he had heard “she was trying to get peace and direction in her life.” He noted that McCready and her manager/agent were “extremely nice” during the “few times” he saw the late star.
