McCready shot the dog before killing herself in a tragic final act of desperation just one month after the death of her boyfriend, reported The Independent. Country singer Mindy McCready was found dead on Sun., Feb. 17, 2013 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Her lifeless body was sprawled on the same porch where her boyfriend died on Jan. 13, 2013.
Although reports indicate that McCready shot the dog, they didn't specify many other details about her actions on the last day of her life.
Record producer David Wilson was Mindy McCready's boyfriend and the father of her younger child, Zayne. His death is still being investigated as a suicide or a homicide. Zayne and Zander, McCready's son from a previous relationship, were both in foster care at the time of McCready's death. Zander's father is Billy McKnight, who was once arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly choking and beating McCready. He has said that he hopes to get his son back in light of the child's mother's death.
Hearing that McCready shot the dog makes it clear that foster care was the safest place for her children during her final dark days. It was certainly a safer place than the Heber Springs home west of Memphis where McCready and Wilson each met their untimely ends.
