McCready shot dog before committing suicide, sheriff says

Country singer Mindy McCready, 37, shot her dog before committing suicide by shooting herself, CNN reports today. The dog belonged to David Wilson, McCready’s late boyfriend, also a victim of suicide. He shot himself last month.

Marty Moss, the Sheriff of Cleburne County in Arkansas said that McCready was home alone when she shot her dog and herself on Sunday.

McCready has two sons, Zander, 6, and baby Zayne, who is just 10-months old. The children are being cared by foster families a rep told CNN.

McCready sold millions of records. Her debut album in 1996, “Ten Thousands Angels” sold more than 2 million copies. Over her career, she placed 14 songs and six of her albums on the Billboard country charts.

McCready was a troubled soul who reportedly suffered from substance abuse problems and with mental illness.

When McCready shot the dog before turning the gun on herself, by all accounts she was in an accelerated downward spiral. Why do you think McCready shot her boyfriend's dog? Did she intend it as a message? Or was it out of concern that no one would be around to care for the dog? Leave your opinion in Facebook below.
