Los Angeles Times columnist, Bill Plaschke tweeted about the seating arrangements for Frank and Jamie McCourt during Game 1 of the NLCS on Thursday night.
"One day after announcing their separation, both owners Frank and Jamie McCourt are here..two rows apart....Frank arrived first, Jamie walked in right before first pitch, didn't acknowledge Frank at first, then went back and talked to him briefly." (@billplaschke)
Talk about uncomfortable, the McCourts reportedly had their respective lawyers in attendance on Thursday evening, and a star-studded duo they are.
Marshall Grossman who represents Frank is described as a high-powered business litigator with clients like Apple and AIG.
Jamie is represented by old Hollywood hand, Dennis Wasser whose clients include many of the richest and most famous names in town.
"Anyone reading them (documents) will readily see that Mr. McCourt's ownership is 100%," said Grossman, "Everything I've seen leads me to believe it's 50-50, whether there's a document or not", said Wasser.
OK, let the games begin. But in the meantime, the games that fans care about are taking place at Dodger Stadium on the field, not the field boxes.
Jamie hasn't announced plans to resign as the team's CEO and I guess we'll see if Frank thinks he can terminate her....her job, not her. A "War of the Roses" scenario seems to be looming with a potential scorched earth strategy.
If it continues to be ugly, resumes of the team's management personnel will start to fly around to other potential employers and agents will steer their clients away from an unstable situation. Is it any wonder Joe Torre felt comfortable saying he was aiming to hang it up at the end of his current deal?
