MC Hammer got arrested on Thursday (Feb. 21) in Northern California. Hammer claims that the arrest came because he was a victim of racial profiling according to a report from Saturday (Feb. 23) though.
It was on Twitter that Hammer stated that an officer had approached his car and asked "Are you on parole or probation?" He claims to have handed over is ID only to have the officer reach inside the car and try to pull him out. The story coming from the Dublin police is a bit different.
The officer stated that Hammer was arrested for investigation of obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties as well as resisting an officer. Dublin police Lt. Herb Walters was the man who relayed the report from his officer, but he declined to comment on what Hammer had to say about the incident.
It is clear that something happened that led to MC Hammer getting arrested, but that might not be revealed until he appears in front of a judge. There has not been an announcement about official charges being brought against Hammer just yet, but he could face them if the officer truly believed that he was being obstructed on the scene.
This definitely seems like a celebrity news story that is going to evolve as the weekend progresses.
