MBFW highlight: Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014

A melancholic instrumental melody, "La Maomunia Theme" by Bliss, introduced the audience to the moonlight Moorish Palace theme of designer Tadashi Shoji's Fall 2014 presentation. To soft and beautiful tunes, the first model walked out in a flame laser-cut micro suede sleeveless sheath mini dress, messy romantic bun and just the right amount of color on the lips.

Miss J, Alyssa Milano and Ken Downing were seen in front row, admiring the exquisite texture of the flame and black crewel embroidery on tulle cape over a long sleeve tulle gown that came later on.

All of the pieces made the models look like chic foreign seductresses. From laser-cut minis, to shear lace gowns, and even shimmering stoned pieces, they all made the models look as if they were floating on the runway.

Some of the sheered lace and velvet pieces reminded us of Valentino's 2011 fall collection. Soft pale nudes accompanied by bright flame reds, and black, were also seen in both contexts. Somehow these seemed to appear relevant and fit in both collections.

The majority of the dresses were definitely effortless silhouettes that would look exquisite in different types of women. The collection was composed mostly of essential pieces for chic woman who succeeds at balancing antiquity and modernity.

Rodney Cutler for Cutler/Redken styled the models' hair, MAC sponsored the make up, butter LONDON designed the nails, Enzo Anglioni provided shoes, Sequin provided accessories, HUE provided hosiery and Eileen Hascourt for Eau Thermal Avene and Klorane provided skin care.

"Ethereal hair was the look at Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014 Show with Rodney Cutler for ULTA Beauty backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 6, 2014. Rodney Cutler, Redken Expert / Celebrity Runway Stylist for THE SALON at ULTA Beauty alongside ULTA Beauty stylist Jen McGann, created a whimsical beauty look with a touch of structure to complement the designer’s Fall 2014 collection. Tadashi Shoji presented a Moroccan inspired collection that aligned with Cutler’s vision for an effortlessly magical runway hair look," said Ulta.
