The prestige of the iconic Raleigh Hotel Penthouse, overlooking the crystal ocean below, was fully realized on Saturday, July 19, 2014, as two big name swimwear brands claimed their mark on the world of sun and surf at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015.
As day three of the fashion-packed festivities dived into full motion, the action began to heat up as Caitlin Kelly brought us the '2015 Endless Possibilities Collection Runway Show.' It was an exclusive presentation for a more intimate crowd and it was well worth the wait. A more luxurious line for the woman who has a passion for the finer pleasures in life and a pride of sophistication and form, Caitlin Kelly designs and produces high-quality swimwear, including cover ups, with a personalized touch and made right here in the United States. After gaining vast experience with such highly garnered names as Badgley Mischka and Aerin Rose Swimwear, Kelly debuted her own line in July of 2012 at Miami Swim Week. That was just the beginning as she continues to build her company to the empire it is today, with hard work and dedication. The brand supports philanthropic causes such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stopbullying.org, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Foundation Fighting Blindness and more. This particular collection had endless possibilities as its name implies, which will work for the beach, for a day outdoors or for a weekend of fun and sun. Rich robust colors of bronze, deep blue, glistening green, paired with beckoning black, all made for a gorgeous showing as they hit the runway piece after piece. Elegance was strongly evident through one-piece halter monokini suits, draped in jewels, or the keyhole plunge front V-back suit with medallion hardware. The versatility of the Caitlin Kelly brand could be seen in the day to night dress that has the ability to be worn in a number of flattering ways or the chic cocktail skirt with side pockets and a back zipper. Some of her best-sellers such as the bandeau top or the sexy tri-top, were put on our wish list as they looked even better under the lights. Whether it was a bikini or a monokini, the message rang out loud and clear. The Caitlin Kelly Spring/Summer 2015 Collection brought us wearable solutions to accentuate our figures as we head to the shore with class and sophistication.
About an hour later, the penthouse was taken over by another design brand that caters to a different consumer but just as popular and well-established. Rip Curl, the leading brand for the active water sport lifestyle, concentrated on their newest collection on this evening of July 19, 2014. Global in nature, they have built a huge following in the surfing community. Taking to the road for their 'My Bikini Summer 2014' tour, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015 welcomed Rip Curl as they brought their exclusive guests one of their most durable and desirable collections yet. The inspiration for this collection came from traveling to surf destinations around the globe. Neoprene tops in neon colors, bandeau bikinis in patterns or ruffled tops to satisfy your more feminine urge, were all some of the highlights. Cut-out one piece suits in stripes or Indian print halter tops are easy to wear and easy to look swim sexy in. Board shorts, the hot pink bikini and the transformed scuba wet suit with zip down front were all very impressive in a stylish way while still clinging to the concept of fun to wear and fun to hit the surf in for any sport. Mary Miller, Vice President of Design & Merchandising at Rip Curl, was ecstatic at the success of the show.
Regardless of your choice of style in swimwear, after seeing all the exquisite collections so far at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015, I can assure you that there will be plenty of swimsuit, cover up and accessory choices to take you clear through the sizzling summer.
