Manassas, Virginia 20110

To whom it may concern,
As a mayoral candidate for the City of Watertown, I was deeply upset to learn that your department is using tax-payers money to conduct an inappropriate and intrusive investigation into a 17 year old boy for texting his 15 year old girlfriend images of himself – after she did it to him first.
Now he’s saddled with two felonies and the implication that he’s a sexual predator. He is facing prison until he's 21 years of age and being classified as a “sexual predator” for life.
This is a 17-year-old who goes to school every day, plays football, has never been in trouble with the law before. What you are putting him and his family through is not acceptable.
Justice, by definition according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is “the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals.” Do your actions sound like “justice”? Will your actions make the streets of Manassas, Virginia any safer?
The answer is an astounding “NO”.
What was even more disturbing to me – and everybody else – was the fact that your department threatened the child if he didn't confess; saying a physician would have to give him medication in order to make his penis erect, so you could take pictures of it.
I will be filing complaints with the Department of Justice against your office, the county attorney, and Detective David E. Abbott for your reckless, illegal and highly inappropriate investigative tactics and usage of tax-payers funds.
I urge you to drop the charges against the minor. Thank you for your time.

Kind Regards,

Jordan W. Turner
Mayoral Candidate
Watertown, Wisconsin
