Mayor Ryan addresses gun control proposal with Michael Vass

January 7, 2013 in City Hall, Mayor Matt Ryan presented proposals of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) to the Binghamton City Council. The discussion dealt with the means to reduce and/or eliminate the senseless gun violence that has taken a toll on cities across the nation. One of the most recent, and clearly in the pubic attention, has been the Sandy Hook shootings but Binghamton itself has faced a similar incident not long ago.

The discussion with the City Council raised certain concerns of some councilmembers, and resulted in questions that will be addressed at the national meeting of Mayors later in the year. The full discussion can be seen at in our exclusive video of the presentation.

After the presentation, M V Consulting president Michael Vass was able to speak with Mayor Ryan. We were able to ask several questions about the position of Mayor Ryan on this issue, as well as how citizens might be affected by the proposals of MAIG if enacted in total. We thank Mayor Ryan for taking the time to answer our questions on this matter.

As stated in the video, this is part of an on-going series of articles addressing the many views and proposals on firearms and gun control.
