Milpitas, CA (November 27) - Milpitas Mayor Jose Esteves is inviting all residents of the city to join him and city officials for the 24th annual tree lighting ceremonies on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Milpitas Community Center located at 457 East Calaveras Boulevard this city.
The annual tree lighting event will be preceded by a Festival of Trees to be graced by the presence of Eric Wright, 49er and 4-time Superbowl Champion, according to Renee Lorentzen of the sponsoring Milpitas Parks and Recreation Services Department.
The silent auction of beautiful-themed christmas trees sponsored by the business community of Milpitas will be held at the Milpitas City Hall Rotunda in front of City Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Proceeds of the themed-trees sale will benefit the foundation's grant and scholarships program for the youth of Milpitas.
"This is our chance to be together as a community in signalling the spirit of Christmas for all. Bring your children, family members, and friends," Esteves said.
Meanwhile, on December 4, 2011, the Milpitas Fire Department and the Milpitas Firefighter Local 1699 will sponsor Breakfast with Santa at the Dave & Buster's at Great Mall from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Those donating items for the kids will have free photo sessions with Santa.
