Maya Angelou our National Treasure

Maya Angelou was born Marguerite Johnson in St. Louis, Missouri in 1914 and died on May 28, 2014. She is best known as an award winning poetess and acclaimed "National Treasure". Maya Angelou had more power and influence than all the presidents, kings, dictators, warriors, military powers and weapons in the world. She had the power to move and change the heart without the use of force.

What would this world be like, had we not experienced Maya Angelou. She lifted the heart of each of us; young girls, teens and adult, who embraced her poem “Phenomenal Woman” and claimed it as our own. She gave us a ribbon of hope to grasp when we were falling with “Still I Rise.” When all else failed us, there were the words of Maya Angelou, our own "National Treasure" to set us aright.

There is not a whole lot one can say about Maya Angelou which her own words have not impressed upon us when Maya Angelou has spoken. When something is working so very well, you do not try to improve on it. With that said, Maya Angelou will be immortalized by her own words in a favorite quote which has proven itself with the test of time and shall endure eternally:

“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
