It's not everyday that you experience an individual living out their true purpose in God courageously. Maya Angelou was a beautiful women who encompassed what it meant to live as A Child of God and be Courageous. In her words, in her life, in her presence, she was courageous, beautiful, strong, compassionate, loving, wise and heartfelt. The beauty of Maya Angelou escapes me. While she has gone on, her words will encourage us, drive us and continuously show us how to be our best selves; to live a Courageous life as A Child of God. Instead of rambling on, here are some of her poignant quotes on living as A Child of God and living Courageous.

Enjoy the quotes and see the vision.

As A Child of God:

-"I believed that there was a God because I was told it by my grandmother and later by other adults. But when I found that I knew not only that there was a God but that I was a child of God, when I understood that, when I internalized that, ingested that, I became courageous."

-"While I know myself as a creation of God, I am also obligated to realize and remember that everyone else and everything else are also God's creation."

-"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."

-"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud."

-"Nothing can dim the light which shines from within."

-"I believe that each of us comes from the creator trailing wisps of glory."

-"Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God."

-"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope."

Courageous:

-"Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage."

-"Have enough courage to trust love one more time. And always one more time."

-"We have to confront ourselves. Do we like what we see in the mirror? And, according to our light, according to our understanding, according to our courage, we will have to say yea or nay — and rise!"

-"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again."

-"One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest."

-"My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return."

-"You can't forgive without loving. And I don't mean sentimentality. I don't mean mush. I mean having enough courage to stand up and say, 'I forgive. I'm finished with it."

As you read her words you know she was one who took the time to listen to God when He spoke to her. Thank you Maya Angelou for your legacy and life filled with wise words. Our prayers go out to your family.
