May is National Cheeseburger Month: Get your fix in Pasadena & Altadena

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Pasadena Restaurant Week launched a celebration of the invention (or discovery) of the cheeseburger at a Pasadena eatery, and declared the winners of the Cheeseburger Challenge. Now it’s time to observe National Cheeseburger Month in May, 2012.

This is a great excuse time to try out the many different types of cheeseburgers available in the Pasadena area. Sample favorites from traditional burgers with lettuce and tomatoes at Pie ‘n Burger to bison burgers at Vertical Wine Bistro can be found in the neighborhood. Burger Continental, in addition to a variety of burgers, serves up pizza and Middle Eastern food. Read a review at “Rose Parade eats: Burger Continental provides an eclectic dining experience.”

Generally regarded as the best burger around, In ‘N’ Out Burger has locations all over California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and Utah. One of the oldest stands is at 2114 E. Foothill Blvd., Pasadena. For other nearby locations, read “Rose Parade eats: In-N-Out, In-N-Out…and no, it isn’t like White Castle.”

Altadena has its favorites as well, including Fair Oaks Burger and Everest. Both also serve Mexican favorites, and Fair Oaks Burger also has Chinese selections.

Prices range from a full meal (cheeseburger, fries, beverage) for less than $5 at In ‘N’ Out to $14 for an aged-beef burger with fries at Kings Row Gastropub.
