Summer session starts soon at The Loft Literary Center, and at 5:00 on Thursday, May 21st, they’ll open their doors to prospective writing students for an education open house. If you’ve considered signing up for a class, but you want to know what you’ll be getting yourself into, instructors will be on hand to answer questions and steer you toward the right class.
When you’re ready to leave The Loft, walk over to the Minneapolis Central Library to catch author Arthur Phillips in the latest installment of the Talk of the Stacks series at 7:00. His 2002 bestselling novel, Prague, is about American expatriates in Budapest who compete in a game based on faking sincerity. On the 21st, he’ll discuss his new novel, The Song is You, about a man whose love of music dries up after his family life deteriorates. When he discovers a young singer in a Brooklyn bar, it sparks an unorthodox love affair based on a mutual passion for music. Following the discussion, Phillips will stay for a book signing, and copies of The Song is You will be available for purchase.
