Harold Camping of Family Radio is predicting the end of the world for May 21, 2011, but this reporter has learned that Camping first predicted that doomsday would be on September 6, 1994, and the proof of that prediction is on YouTube. Camping's prediction is getting a huge amount of buzz on the Internet. Everyone from Time Magazine to NPR have been reporting the May 21, 2011 doomsday date. Camping says he's sure of his prediction. Click here to view a previous story that includes YouTube video of Camping being confronted with a caller who accuses him of using the prediction to raise money. The caller asks if Camping will return the money on May 22, 2011 if his prediction doesn't come true.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Camping 89, is basing his doomsday prediction on a mathematical system to interpret prophecies hidden within the bible.
Camping is from Oakland, California, where he runs and host Family Radio, which reaches listeners all around the world.
Camping chuckled when the Chronicle asked him about Armageddon coming in 2012 as allegedly predicted by the Mayans and dramatized in the movie 2012.
Camping says that the righteous have nothing to fear and will be taken to heaven on the last day.
Undoubtedly, the recent reports of massive numbers of dead birds and dead fish showing up in Kentucky, Arkansas, New Zealand, Brazil, and Sweden are only helping to intensify the end of the world rumors on the Internet.
Other Web sites including wecanknow.com and the eBible Fellowship are joining in on the May 21, 2011 prediction.
Catherine Wessinger, a professor at Loyola University in New Orleans who studies millennialism, the belief in pending apocalypse told the Associated Press, "A lot of times these prophecies gain traction when difficulties are happening in society. Right now, there's a lot of insecurity, and this is a promise that says it's not all random, it's part of God's plan."

The world is much different today then it was 17 years ago.
Camping said in his book 1994? with a question mark that the world could end but it maybe be 2011 if the 1994 is wrong. That is why he had the question mark.
Fred - Harold has lied to you just like he lied to me and everyone else. 1994 WAS NOT his only other date he predicted.
There is evidence that there has been around 10-12 OTHER dates as well that he is lying about making.

It's one thing to get it wrong 1 time, such as 1994 like he claims, but 11 times is not an action of GOD!
I have been listening to Family Radio since 1970, I bever heard these messages you listed? I especially remember the 1990- till present broadcasts. I never heard these. In fact the book "1994?" book only list one additional date 2011.
They sound real, but they could have been fabricated by Campings enemies, he seems to have a lot of them!
I am a Seminary Trained and Ordained American Baptist Minister with an M.Div , M.S. and B.A. degrees. I have studied Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic and Have always found Mr. Camping's work more accurate than the speculations about the Bible by other So Called experts. In Fact, I Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary , they promoted more psychology than Bible courses and I had to request ADDITIONAL bible courses.
Harold Camping miscalculated Doomsday. He did not add in the numbers right. I redid the calculations and am happy to send it to you Mr. Camping. Hopefully you'll get to rectify your predictions before you make a fool out of yourself.

Fred, how do you explain the verses that say Jesus will come like a thief in the night, no man shall know when Jesus will return? Harold Camping refuses to answer these questions. He keeps referring back to Noah but Noah did not know the whole time he was building ark when that would be. He knew when he entered the ark it would be in 7 days. Also the Bible warns us about False Prophets. Camping said on an interview before 1994 "without a shadow of a doubt Jesus will return in 1994". Doesn't that make him a false prophet? A prophet is someone who predicts things that become true. Add false to that and it is someone who predicts things that do not come true. Which one is Camping? Aren't we warned about false prophets and false teachers throughout the New Testament? And what about Ezekiel's prophecy about Gog and Magog? Why are these being ignored? Also he says everyone is to leave their churches and listen to him and read their Bible on Sundays by themselves. That goes against so many verses in the Bible especially Hebrews 10:23-28. Isolate yourself, listen to me only, send money to me only, leave fellow believers in my opinion is Cult Leader.
The whole world is falling apart, trouble on every shore, trouble with everthing man has touched. The family structure is wreaked, no one trusts anything any more. Crudeness has taken over the world. Can you really invision what the world will be like in another 5 or 10 years if these are not the last days.
The world is in such a mess our only hope is God's return. You who don't want him to return, ask yourself: Who is going to help the world. The world is truly beyond any human help. No jobs, no money, no future. Governments around the world in unrest! Greed and violence and vice has already destroyed our world. Now our only salvation is the Lord's intervention.

If the end comes, he is off and if the end does not come he is off. He is doing this because he truly believes God is using him for this message. What does he have to gain? I don;t have the kind of courage he has. Just think what he is putting out there.
I remember the professors in Seminary telling us that the Genelogies in the Bible are only important to trace the line of the prophets. They discounted the actually life spans. Think of it, It would take an engineer to learn the significance of the numbers so God could give us a warning of the actually end.
Whether he is right of wrong we will know it in less than 4 months.
But, you have to ask yourself, look at the state of the world. That is more scary than judgment day. What the heck is going yo happen to us if May 21, 2011 does not happen.

This is where Camping twists the meaning of this scripture to suit his own agenda. It says a wise mans HEART will know time and judgment, not his BRAIN.
Camping used his brain and his math skills to come to this date, there was no heart involved. There is a bid difference.

So how in the world can Mr. Camping know the date and the hour the Lord will return.. Isnt this a counterdiction to what is being said? A lot of deception is going on.
Gina you forgot the Matthew 24:36 verse that states "But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only". Also Matthew 24:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you DO NOT expect." Of course we should be ready. You never know when God will take us home. Harold Camping has devised a spreadsheet and timeline that determined his 1994 date and when that did not happen he said he made some mistakes. So what makes him right now? Could he make a mistake again? I do think we are in the end times but once again Harold Camping and his followers do not respond to the above verses. I choose not to listen to a radio show or believe a spreadsheet and timeline that a False Prophet has devised and speaks on. I will obey the Bible by not doing this. I study the Bible and do not take Bible verses out of context like Harold Camping does continually. I pray for those people who believe that they can know the date when the Bible clearly says we will not. Gina what is your response to these verses that clearly say we will not know? Also what is your response as to how you should leave your church and follow only him?

Much to say and a small space. We have been here many times before on dates. I had a well known international speaker/writer who had a date and even told us at our fellowship that Jesus appeared to him and told him the date and if it did not happen he would leave the ministry. Well that was many years past and he is still preaching. I surely do not know if Harold is correct and have nothing to say about his dates except if it does not happen then he needs to keep quiet on these subjects . Lastly,let us always remember that our salvation in Christ does not rest on being correct about a date and even being correct about a date does not save us. Thank you Lord Jesus,for you are my Life. The Lord does have a timetable for all things.Many of us have felt for decades that since the first four of the seven festivals had a fulfillment on the exact date of the festivals that the remaining three spring festivals (Feast of Trumpets,Day of Atonement and Feast of Tabernacles) would also be a time of major events of the end times. Just look to the first four festivals to see what happened on those dates in the past. The key to it all is "Christ within" oh how wonderful is His gift to us which is nothing less than Himself. P>C.
I don't know much about the bible or about the rapture but I can say this I do know that I do love god and Jesus but feel I am not close enough to them.. Kim: There is always someone telling us what is going to happen and when but it just draws attention to the speaker. It does draw big crowds,sell books and attracts large offerings.However,date setting does not fill the Kingdom of God. It would be much better if the preachers would call the church ( the called out ones) to repent of the sin in their lives. If someone stands in the assembly and reads Galatians 5:19 thru 21 and says "this is the word of the Lord" they will be treated as George Fox was long ago and many will depart. I remember back in the late 80's when there was a prediction of the end of the world, with a precise date AND time. The fact is, nobody knows exactly WHEN or HOW the world fizzle out. Not to mention the return of Christ -- would you want to come back to this hell hole we've created?! I'm more apt to believe the Mayans, Aztecs, and a chinese proverb or two over these so-called biblical predictions. Mainly because there has been one too many who have proclaimed the end of the world via what the bible says. At least I sure hope, as before, that this guy is wrong; if not, then it's gonna suck for Obama-Care!! :)

Listen - Christ Himself warned against not only "date setters" but also those that claim that Christ is here...or there...He says that these individuals are false prophets and should not be listened to. Will the rapture occur on 5/21/2011? I honestly have no idea, but I don't think it will. Christ said that we will not know the hour nor the day. I think that the parables Christ taught is warned us that we can know the season for his return. This means that we can know around the time when the end will come. I think the end times is upon us and, yes, I think that Christ could return in my lifetime. But I have to be careful and not set a date for it. If Christ had told us the exact date of his return, we could all live like sinners, and then the week before his return, we could straighten up. It just doesn't make any sense. I think that you should be prepared for Christ's return - live every day as if it were your last, but you shouldn't put a date on anything.

Scripture says be not afraid, live right, serve others, speak KINDLY of others, don't bring up the faults or weaknesses of others, strengthen those around you and it will strengthen you...
Times are getting difficult. There are many in the world trying to anger Christian to go against Christian, don't fall into their trap. Be loving, caring, helpful. Don't down grade another out of anger
Help them to see Gods light, Joy, Happiness with gentle loving words. Don't fall for the trap that is being laid to break down our world, country, towns and family homes.
We are only as strong as our weakest link... don't be that weak link (no matter how angry) with mean words, actions, or even thoughts. remember we don't know what another lived through.
That was not very nice what was said about someones mother you don't even know them or their mother. I know you don't mean to say things like that, we all say things that are not nice at times no one is perfect. one needs to realize their mistake correct it and do better.
Plan how you are going to react to situations before you get into them. Then your reaction will be more controlled and loving and peaceful.

episynagōgē - appears only twice in the greek Bible, once in 2 Th 2:1 and once in Hbr 10:25. It speaks of a gathering unto Jesus. Leaders of churches often say that this tells us to go to church, but church is not mentioned in 2 Th 2:1 or in Hbr 10:25. See Act 17:24, Act 17:48 - 49, and 2 Cr 5:1 among many other verses that tell us that God is not in the places that we set up for him.
I understand your difficulty with doomsday issues, however, God always warns the world before His huge events. Wecanknow.com speaks of these in length. Isaiah 42: 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. Follow along with the YouTube's "Another Look at the Biblical Timeline of History, parts 1,2,3,4 and 5. Numbers don't lie. Be diligent, get out your calculator, "Do The Math" I was blind but now I see.

Anyone who is giving credence to anything Harold Camping is saying, is following the imaginings of a very, deluded man who relishes in, thoughts of death and destruction. He has wreaked havoc with his, "personal interpretations," of the Scriptures and mislead several people into following his madness.
mr. camping's eschatology is profoundly wrong. premillennialism is a false doctrine - period! it has only existed for several hundred years of church history, and is now popular in the modern church. if anything, amillennialism is much more accurate biblically and is what the visible church of Christ has more generally held to these past several thousand years. however, most contemporary christians dismiss traditional reformed theology at the "flick of a wrist!" probably the best book written to date on Revelation is, "more than conquerors" by William Hendriksen. secondly, premillennialist will always quote 2 peter 3:10 as a precursor to the 1000-year physical reign of Christ. however, traditional biblical theology these past two-thousand years teach that this passage refers to the end of the world - nothing else to follow! "But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. On that day the heavens will disappear with a roaring sound, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be exposed." notice the words, "...on that day..." when Christ comes back as a thief in the night... on that day... the world will end! no tribulation, no 1000 year reign, only the end! finally, in the book of Revelation Christ is holding seven stars in his right hand... why? because the ancients used the stars to navigate by - Christ uses his perfect number of "ordained" ministers to navigate his church through the ages. harold is not an ordained minister! BEWARE!
Serve others, if your lamp is full, serving others fear not. If your hurting others with words, actions, Stop. Don't judge others, Find something good about each person you are around and let them know. Bring peace into the environment around you, let go of any of your anger and replace it with love, caring serving, helping with gentleness. Live a gentle serving life. Hard times are here and harder times are coming if you don't serve one another for all eternity... You won't make it in this world .. To make it you must make others happy. comfortable, safe, healthy when you can. when have not, you have not and cant help. Help in another way.
