R&B singer Maxwell walked away with two trophies at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Both came during the afternoon, non-televised portion of the ceremony.
Maxwell claimed Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Pretty Wings" and noted his excitement in his acceptance speech: "I'm trying to keep it together. I'm a little bit chocked up right now. This is my first Grammy and it means a lot to me."
"Thank you everybody who's waited for this record," Maxwell added, acknowledging the 8-year gap between his album releases.
Though Maxwell didn't win anything on the televised portion of the broadcast, he gave the evening's classiest performance, a medley of his Song of the Year-nominated "Pretty Wings" and "Where is the Love," which featured legendary singer Roberta Flack. All in all, not a bad night for Maxwell.
